Sheela Yuan is a scenic designer, art director, graphic designer, and illustrator across theatre, film, and music. Originally from San Jose, California, Sheela is currently based in Los Angeles studying Theatre Design at the University of Southern California School of Dramatic Arts.
Sheela is passionate about telling stories that uplift and represent underserved communities, especially those centered around queer POC with colorful, complex narratives. She approaches design with an analytical approach and strong attention to detail, taking ideas from dream to reality. To her, without imagination or intention, there is no design.
Recent projects include set design for USC's production of projection design for and art direction for the USC senior thesis film Hand Me Downs. Outside of the entertainment sector, she also runs Sheela Studios, a small business specializing in illustration prints and keychains.
